Anyone planning on riding anywhere this weekend? Wife will be out of town, and I really don't want to sit around the house all weekend, so I'm gonna keep the road hot, just figured I would see if anyone else is gonna be out there, and maybe get some suggestions as to where to go, just has to be within 250 miles from Fort Bliss.

This time of year you have,

Ruidoso, NM
Silver City, NM
Beavercreek, NM

All of those are within the 250 mile limit you posted....hell, I think you can even make it to Albuquerque, NM. If you go to Albq, leave El Paso early enough; you can have breakfast at Frontier.

Enjoy...

Just curious.........did you mean Beaverhead? I don't know of a Beavercreek, if there is such a place please let me know of it's location.

Thanks

I hear crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico from El Paso is nice anytime of the year.

Damn can't believe I missed this thread. Spent most of the weekend on my bike. Favorite place is Silver City via Hatch on 152. Ruidoso is a fun day or weekend ride too. If you're looking for just wide open country head east to Alpine / Ft Davis / Marfa and this time a year hit up the Balmorhea Springs. For afternoon rides I'll cruise up 28 to Old Mesilla, there is a biker hangout called Chopes about 10 miles south of Cruces.

Coming up on AUG 24 and 25 there is a two day benefit ride for the local 4H clubs. It starts in Las Cruces and circles around through Silver and Reserve up to Soccorro. Spend the night there and then finish out coming back to Cruces through Ruidoso. Fliers are floating around for it if you want more specifics.

Anyone else going on the Fort Bliss post ride on Friday? Over 700 bikes registered.

I usually loathe the Army's safety overkill but I'm all about safety if it gets me out of work once every three months to ride.
