Default Help with new bars and cable length

I just bought a 1988 Hugger, and just don't like the Hugger bars - too narrow, and wrong grip angle for me.

I made the 1 hour trip to the nearest dealer, and sat on a couple of 2015's (had to wipe up the drool), but found that the bars on a Model 72 seemed to be what I want. I plan on getting forward controls, and they felt very comfortable in that position,

Went on JP Cycles website, and there are over 200 bar choices, maddening for a noob like me. I also need new cables, so I was thinking I should pick the bars now and get the correct length cables at the same time.

Which bars are most like the Model 72 bars?

What cable length do I need for them?

I did Google it before I posted. And I found a chart...up to 2013. Same? It said up to 2013...not 2015. And nothing about the cable length, because the 2015 fly by wire machines don't have cables like my old 1988 has. Heck, Harley has discontinued the throttle and idle cables for my 88, went to the shop yesterday and came out empty handed....aftermarket and Internet to the rescue.

I have a 1991XLH with standard "sport" bars. I always thought the JP cycles, low rise drag bars would be good look/fit on our bikes. Just not that much difference to make it worth the time/trouble to change them for me. I hate those buckhorn bars on Huggers, my buddy had a 1990. To each his own.

You can find cables for sure, that's an easy fix. Don't worry about 2015 machines, you're a lot better off in 1988. Unless you're in 1991 like me.

Now, clubman bars and a cafe look is tempting too.

They are 10" bars on the new 72 and you will likely need longer cables - you should be able to buy the full cable package at jp cycle
