Default New Bars = No Throttle snap

Installed the new bars, the indy said the cables weren't to long. I am thinking he is wrong, there is a lot of slack behind the fairing. Can long cable cause the throttle to not snap back when I release it or is there another issue? Thanks guys

I have the Ergo Standard bars now, I am not sure what aftermarket bars were on there and Im not sure the length of the cables. They are aftermarkt because they are braided, and I know they arent the stock length because the old bars came way back and down.

Sounds like they are just not adjusted properly.

make sure they are not twisted or binding up, they need to make a gentile curve . Lube them and make sure they are adjusted right.

From what I remembered there is a certain way adjust them . Check your Svc Manual. You might do a search on this site. The lenght should have nothing to do with how the work IMO

+1 as stated previously bust out the service manual and adjust them per that. Make sure you check center, left side and right for binding when you turn the bars.

Good luck, have fun.

I'm in the process of putting 16's on my bike now and found if they are not properly adjusted the throttle will not snap back.

Yep, adjustment. I tightened the idle cable too much and the throttle not only wouldn't snap back, it would not return on its own, had to manually roll it forward.
