Default Sticky throttle

So I put on some 27inch drag bars last night and when I put the RS controls on my throttle was pretty sticky. I slid it back off and played with it and even off of the bars it felt a lot stickier than before. It felt perfect on the other bars. I put some wd40 on the handlebar and put it back on and tried again and it's not any better. Any pointers?

Make sure you have not over adjusted the cables and that the cables are in the groves good and straight in the grip. The check the carb to see if they are where they are supposed to be. All these areas can cause them to be tight.

I didn't have to adjust anything. It just slid right off in one piece and I slid it right on to the new bars. Do you think it could be because the old bars arent painted right there and the new ones are?

You might want to lube your throttle and idle cables as well.

make sure the grip is properly fitting in the grooves of the clamshells. its a common issue and its just enough to **** you off. also check cable adjustments and serviceability

Might want to make sure you are not installing the grip too far onto the bar - leave an 1/8" or so to be sure there is no friction between the end of your throttle grip and the end of your handlebar.

am i the only one who is confused on this question? without knowing what bike, and year, the answers could be all over the place. you're answers all seem to be including cables, but if you've got tbw, the correct answer could be very different.

when i put new bars on mine the throttle stuck a little, took the throttle grip off and sanded down the powder coat and that fixed my issue. the paint was a tad too thick to let the throttle snap back on mine

You need to adjust the throttle and idle cables. in particular I believe your throttle cable is too tight. It won't hurt a drop of oil on the cable sleeves on the throttle assembly.

If your bike has the throttle thumb screw, it might be that the half moon that rides against the throttle isn't in place all the way.
