Default Key Code with an "H" at the end ???

I have hit a road block trying to get a set of replacement keys for a 2014 1200 Custom I have. The original key has been lost in the mail for over a month now and I don't expect to ever get it. Tried ordering a new set at the dealer with the vin and they were able to pull up the code to order a set. Here is where the problem gets worse. My key code ends with an "H" now according to the system when they try to order a new key, it will only give the option for either A, B, C or D no H after the numbers. They called Harley HQ and they told them to use "A" for the order. Well ten days later I received the keys and its the wrong blank The "A" key wont even enter the cylinder.

Checked back with the dealer and after several calls it appears that the key code ending with an H is an invalid part. However their other system says that is the code for the vin. Has anyone else had problems like this? Does anyone have any other letter at the end besides A,B,C,D for their key code?

Thanks for the link. Yeah I saw that thread before and I did order a set of those Honda blanks but still waiting to receive them. I hope it's the same blank and that way I can use the key that HD sent me to make a duplicate. But if its not I'm back to square 1. I'm going to go see the parts manager tomorrow and see what can be done. But I was hoping to see if anyone else had a key code also with an "H" at the end. It could be that somewhere down the line they just inputted the wrong code for my vin or HD needs to update their parts list.

No the number on my 2014 superlow ends with a B. I ordered a couple of extra keys from Harley and they work perfect.

I'm thinking it could be with a B at the end and this problem is because of a typo on their part. The B is just below the H on the keyboard. I will check with the parts guy. Is your key something like this Honda blank (1st image)? The second image is of an A type key blank. The slots are on the opposite side.

For what it's worth, my keys don't have any of those letters. It looks like your 2nd image but it is not an A. The key code has 3 characters. I had the dealership make extra keys.

My key with the B has the slot on the right side. I think they changed the blanks in 2014.

Thanks for the info. Every little bit will help resolving this problem. The second image is known as the X 234 or the HYD13 that you will see sometimes printed on the face of the key as the blank identifier. That's a very common blank for the Sportsters and easy to find. My 09 Nightster works with that type of blank. But it's a no go for the 2014 1200C.

I will talk with them today again and suggest that we order a set with the B at the end unless somebody says they have an H also in their code. I will keep an eye on this thread before we pull the trigger.

Went and ordered another set today, but this time with a B at the end. Fingers crossed and we shall see in about 10 days or so.

Thanks for all the help
