Engine died with no warning
Riding my 2014 Custom to work 75 miles round trip most everyday and ran across something strange yesterday morning. I was about 30 miles into my morning ride and watching the gauge knowing the fuel light would be coming on at any time around 130 miles. Riding through a town running in forth gear when the engine dies with no warning at all. Coasted over to the side and noticed all lights were okay so I found neutral and it fired right back up and I was on my way... About 1/4 mile the gas light came on as I was expecting so I pulled in for a fill up of 3 gallon of gas as usual. Another 50 to 60 miles added later in the evening with no problems.... Crossed the 5,000 miles mark on the bike last night coming home.
Strange glitch, anyone have an idea what happened ?

Could be your battery's ground cable. Notorious on Sportsters, the ground cable more frequently than not, loses a good connection on the engine's block. If what you described happens again, I heartily suggest you detach all 4 ends of your battery cables, wire brush or sandpaper them, coat with dielectric grease, and then reattach all 4 points and snug down the bolts/nuts VERY WELL. This is a well known issue with the Sportsters.

random stuff does happen but, check to see if you bike stores some codes from the event in memory.
