Default Roadster XL1200CX Engine guards ?

Has anyone fitted an engine guard to their 2016 Roadster ?

Would this one fit. Just not too sure about all the holes !

What is that guardig the engine from? Where that mounts is the boat ankor strong portion of the engine under the oil filter.

Is this a mod just for looks? I think it would fit just fine... if not, you could.... convince it to fit.

Theres one here on the bike in this vid.

It's a sump guard or engine bash plate, probably other names as well. The holes are there to let the mud and water out, while riding deep muddy trails and showing those buzzy Jap cross-country bikes the way home.....

Looks like it'll fit, but I agree with cvaria. Not sure what you're trying to protect unless you have something in the UK that we don't have here.

I guess the handle bars will protect your engine in a tip over.

Thanks both for your input. These are quite popular over here in the UK, known as Bashplates/Skidplates/Engine guards. Normally for dirt bikes, but quite a few of us fit them to protect the engine/filter etc from basically road grit and gravel.

This one is made specifically for the Sportster, so I assume it would fit the Roadster ? Not sure, as I don't pick mine up till next week.

Am looking around for other options, if there are any out there.

The below image should explain where it goes

I suggest that is more for show than protection old chap, it would need to extend further back under the engine and have rearward mountings to survive a serious bash. Looks OK otherwise!
