Hello all. I am new to this forum ( I'm usually found in the Softail forum) but my wife just bought a new 05 883. I'd like to learn as much as I can about it and way's to customize it. First order of business is to lower it and change the pipes. (lowering it not for looks but for my wifes comfort) any info would be appreciated. Michael

Welcome to Sporty world.

Progressive makes a good set up to lower her bike.

Pipes as always are budget dependant, you know slip ons, full system or ???

If the wife is vertically challanged look into HDs reach seat as well.
Let us know what you decide to do and tell the wife congrats on the purchase.

Hı Michael and welcome ,

I bought my XL883 C 2005 nearly 8 months ago , ı changed grips , footpegs , added a sissy bar , engine guard (it really changes the look of the bike) first.
Then i went to get some covers , like timer and derby cover .
Got all skull collection of H-D but ı dont know ıf your wıfe wıll lıke skulls all around her bıke
After ı added a skull medallıon on the back sıde of sıssy bar.
Then ı got the jet kıt , rejetted carb and S.E. aır cleaner .
At that time ı was short a bıt of $$$$ so ı just drılled my stock pıpes .
Now that economıc sıtuatıon got better ı ordered new pıpes , SAMSON Big Guns 3 Street Sweepers. ı lıke the way they look , and a kuryakyn Pro-r serıes hypercharger .
The hypercharger arrıved last week but stıll waıtıng the pıpes.
Oh ı got the chrome swıtches and housıng also , and the orange S.E. spark plug wıres . Enrıcher choke **** and the layback lıcense plate holder.
Last month ı added an oıl cooler because here where ı live( Turkey) the summer ıs really hot and the dealer told me to get one .
Well ıt really depends on how much $$$$ u want to ınvest on the mods , but ı thınk some new grips , footpegs, chrome swıtches , an engıne guard , a rejetted carb and some
slip-on mufflers wıll do the job for now , well at least thıs ıs my ıdea .
By the way u are really lucky by lıvıng ın the States cause u can fınd everythıng and very easy ın your country .
I have to order everythıng ı need from ınternet and hope that ıs not goıng to get cought at local customs [:@] Local dealers are really expensive here.
Congratulatıons to your wıfe for her bıke.
ride safe
