883 to 1200 heads or bore?
want to go bigger. i have a 2008 EFI which is an 883 but i want to either get an NHRS 1250 kit or bore out the engine to 1200. i don't know what to do. i have a guy here in warren, pa RAM engines who is pretty good so i wouldn't be afraid to have him bore my engine. i found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPORT...Q5fAccessories
if i did just buy an NHRS what is recommended?

Many options
I have been searching and searching, reading everything I can, to determine the best plan For Me. You have many, many, many options. Ask a lot of questions!! Can you call the guy on e-bay and get more info? If you can get good answers from him and your local guy, may be this is a good option for you. If you buy the Keith Black parts on e-bay are the pistons cast or forged? How much will the gaskets cost? Can your local guy bore and hone a straight, round hole (torque plates)? What about compression ratio? Do you want to run 93 octane or regular?
I think the NRHS options are 1212cc for $525 boring your cylinders (1200cc an option too) with gaskets and 1250cc Axtell cylinders and gaskets for $700, both with hurricane forged pistons (forged can be considered stronger) but maybe you don't need that. Both are bolt on kits. Call and talk to Dan, he is the owner and will help any way he can.
Don't get me wrong, e-bay can be your friend. I have purchased and sold many things on e-bay and I am always looking for "a deal". Let your future plans for your bike and the thickness of your wallet, be your guide.
Collecting my parts for a winter build.
Have fun, Frank

Been researching the same thing for quite a while now--there's 2 ways I'm thinking of going:
1--NRHS 1250 kit with stage 1 headwork on my 883 heads and SE 497 cams (actually made by Andrews) for a total of about $1500 plus my work to install it. That should produce about 77-80hp/80tq. You could also get stage 2 headwork done and add 536 cams which would get you to about 85-90hp/80-83 ft. lbs. of torque.
2--NRHS 1250 kit with 1200R heads. For this project, you can expect 80-85hp/80-85tq. The stock cams will work fine with this set-up but for $300 I'd throw in the 536 cams while you're tearing everything apart anyways.
Both of the hp/tq numbers assume a 2-1 exhaust and high flow air cleaner kit with the bike properly tuned. This is according to Dan at NRHS and also a few other performance engine builders I've spoken with.
Oh yeah, just thought of another option--you could always trade it in for a 1200 and then start from scratch and build more power--a lot of folks who bought Sporties a year ago are now faced with the dilema of trading them in for a bigger bike before they reach the 365 day mark to receive 100% of what they paid for it. I suspect a lot of Sporties will be hitting the dealer floors soon as the moco did gangbusters with that promotion.
