Default 1200 conversion on the cheap???

Ok guys, I'm new here and I did some searching and didn't see any answers to my question. I have an 07 883 and was wondering if I could just find a set of low mileage 1200 cylinders and pistons on ebay for about 150 bucks or so and use them for the swap using my stock heads. I know I would have to re-tune for air/fuel delivery but I'm assuming I could purchase a tuner to take care of that. I don't see why this wouldn't be feasible...so if one of you guys with more know-how than me can give me some input I would appreciate it.

Once converted, People don't go back. You can find a sh*t load of old 883 pistons. Most people bore out their 883 cylinders to 1200 or 1250. You can buy a conversion kit for about $850 from what I understand.
BTW, when you talk about motor work and cheap.....it scares me!!

Good luck finding 1200 jugs used,You will find loads of 883 jugs.A guy on ebay sells jugs that he bores. He has a set for your year on there now for $158 bucks. Then get your self a set of new pistons and gaskets and your good to go with the fuel tuner.Your stock heads will be fine.

Thanks for the input guys. I've actually found a few sets of jugs on ebay from stock evo 1200's. Supposedly low mileage. The way I was figuring it, going with a set of low mileage oem cylinders would be at least as good as one of the 500 dollar kits you can find. Seems there's a lot of issues to consider, I was almost sold on an nrhs kit then read a few posts about some ppl have issues with burning oil. Either way it will be a while before I upgrade but I do appreciate the help.

Before you just buy 1200 jugs you better check fitment for 2007 on up. I know that the size (diameter) is smaller on 2006 and older jugs. They may fit but the head fins will stick out more. I'm not sure about other variances. But....better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the input man. That's the kind of mix ups I'm trying to avoid. I know it's easy to overlook some of these things when doing a swap like this. As for the post about boring my stock cylinders I suppose it's that's an option. I don't know alot about machine work like that and I'm just wondering about the "torque plates" I believe that are supposed to be used...wonder if that's something I have to request at the machine shop or something that any good reputable shop would know to do. I just hate to put it back together and find out I'm using a quart of oil a week or something.
