Sneak peak for my Nightster face lift
My Nightster has been the same for a few years now and I think it's time for a change. Do any of you even remember I have a Nightster lol? I'm not one to mess with what works once I finish it but after riding my wife's 04 with mids & taller bars I realized how uncomfortable my XLN is. It's fine for the most part but I'm 35 now and my bum knee and busted shoulder from 20 years of soccer is starting to demand some sort of comfort.
Here it is now
and here's a sneak peak at what I'll be doing this winter. I have my plate full with my other bikes I want to finish this winter so this face lift will be simple and low-buck.
I like Joebotic's clean handlebar thread so I'll be cleaning mine up while I have it apart. When the switch housings are removed the lever perches left behind are shaped in a way that makes it obvious that something is missing. I don't like the perch I have on mine now because of the neutral safety switch so I dug out on old one and filed it down. Here's a side by side.
mounted on my drop seat bike
and this is the beginning to my traditional springer resolution. I will not notch the frame on this bike like everyone else has done and I'm not willing to sacrifice rideability because of trail issues so I drew on the floor for a couple hours to find the parameters I am bound to
and that gave me this high tech draft
which turned in to this
all that gives me a new top clamp to offset the neck stem so it will clear the frame and keep me at 4" of trail
Here's a traditional top clamp
and mine
That's it for now. Stay tuned I guess lol.
