Do you check it just on your jiffy stand like the manual says or when the bike is upright/leveled?

 

Upright and level. I'll check it cold and hot depending on how I feel ........I thought I read in the manual to check when its level..... guess I might be mistaken....

 

Yes like the manual says, check it on the jiffy stand. Full is half way between add and full marks.

 

Do what your manual says.......older ones are level........newer ones on kick stand.

 

For 2004 and later, the manual say's to check it (when hot) on the jiffy stand.
The level when measured on the jiffy stand should be ~1/2 way between the Add and Full marks on the dipstick.

 

My manual says on the stand when hot so thats what I do.
