Default Tires and Dealership question

I'm getting new tires in March and have done some digging in the forum archives. I've determined that I really like the look of the vintage tires(ex. Firestone. Are these option s that the dealership can offer or do you get these tires put on at a Indy ?

Check out COKER TIRE first. They have some really cool tires you may like.

Dealers tend to only offer Harley approved tyres, in my experience. If you want to fit any other brand, modern or older style, you need to shop around. I actually use my local Yamaha dealer, because they are close and will buy in most brands and fit to a loose wheel.

You can check at the dealership, but I'd go with an indy. My local dealership wouldn't even get me the Michelin Commander II tires that I wanted. I was told they only sell and install the Dunlop and Michelin tires that had the HD logo on them. They won't even do just an install on tires that I carry in. The guy in the service dept. tells me this right after complaining about how slow it's been the last couple months.

+1 on Indies. They may do a deal for you on other brands/styles of tires & will mount them cheaper. I actually use a local Honda shop to mount tires I buy online, and they only charge me about $20 a tire/rim to switch the old to new. The HD shop said minimum of $90 for me to have them switch out the front & rear tires even with me bring them just the old tires/wheel & new tire for them to switch out & them not remounting/aligning them back on the bike.

I found that when I was looking, most indies will give you a break on the install if you order the tires through them.

Find the tires you like and order them. Any indie and even HD dealers will put your tires on for their flat-rate time if you don't want to do it.
