10" mini apes install on my nightster
Just finished my Road 6 customs 10" mini ape install, here are some pics
Taking off the clutch side controls
All of the wiring is plugged in under the tank here, I lifted the tank to give me easier access, just undo the bolt at the front of the tank and it rotates up.
Close up
Test fitting the new bars
I cut the plugs and fed the wires through the bar, hers is a preliminary test fit just to measure how much longer I will need to make the harness.
Soldering station, LOL. All connections were soldered, heat shrinked and then the whole thing was wrapped in electrical tape and finally put in a corrugated wire loom
Wires soldered, not fully wrapped yet, one last check if all went well and everything works before I seal them. I then wrapped the extended wire loom with electrical tape, and added a corrugated wire loom. This obviously gets done twice, once for the brake side and another time for the clutch side controls.
I did not need to change to a longer clutch or brake line, the clutch line is just long enough, I would say you will need to change it to a longer one if going to 12". As far as the brake line, I undid the hard line mount under the triple clamp, and re bent the line to give me more slack, it was enough, and it works, but I am not sure I like the look, looks a little ghetto, the line is wavy now due to me massaging it for length, I may just but an aftermarket braided line eventually. I also flipped the mirrors (love it).
Finished
Let me know what you guys think.
