EarthX battery Goes POP ! ( 2nd one in 2 months )
So yesterday morning I decided to go for a cruise down a few country back roads & stopped 60 miles later to grab some breakfast, then made a short trip across the road to into Walgreens, went to start my bike & it went DEAD.. So dead the the mileage wouldn't even come on the speedo.. I know I didn't leave the key on ACC b/c I have had this problem WITH ANOTHER EARTH X 3 WEEKS AGO !!
Trailered the bike home & put my 4 year old HD battery back in & she Fired right up ! shook the Earth X battery & I can hear something rattling around inside it.
Anyone know what could cause this ? bike only has 12K miles on it (04 xl1200R)

Don't buy another Earth-X battery.....Problem solved.
Went to their web site....Wow! Very expensive batteries, although I can't see any benefit to them.
Generally, it has been my experience that "Environmentally Friendly" usually means....We're gonna charge you a lot of money for a piece of **** that don't work as well as what you're used to getting for way less money....But you can walk around feeling real good about yourself for being "Earth Friendly".

"Earth Friendly" must mean it quits working after a couple of weeks so you have to then walk and save the environment from burning gas and poluting the atmosphere.
I get around 6-7 years from a Harley Battery but always put it on a trickle charger every evening...not "earth friendly" but is sure "rider friendly"...I prefer to be able to ride my bike than walk....;-)

The voltage regulator is working fine, just checked it.
I Got in touch with Earth X & gave them the run down & they told me that they have never had this kind of problem with any of there batteries. They also told me the ETX 18C was too small of a battery for my 2004 XL1200R. So they have already have the bigger ETX24C en route to my doorstep with a return label for the old battery !
Can't say enough good things about their customer service. Super Nice, Really helpful! I'll give y'all an update after a few hundred miles & ignition cycles.
