Gang, we just returned from a great 6,000 mile road trip. We had no accidents, damage to our bikes, or personal injury. On our return home leg, my friend's bike developed an electrical problem, which eventually drained the battery and killed the engine. He didn't notice there was a problem until the battery was almost drained. I doubled back to a small town to have the battery charged while Tim stayed with the disabled bike. The battery had a dead cell and couldn't be charged, so I bought a battery that would work as a temporary until we could make it to the H-D dealer 150 miles away. About 30 miles later we realized there was a more serious problem, when that battery died. This went on all day charging and discharging batteries until we made it to the dealer for a new stator.
I said all of the above to say this.... NOT A SINGLE BIKERS STOPPED TO SEE IF WE NEEDED HELP!
There were many times the bike was laying apart in an obvious state of disrepair and Tim was alone, standing over the bike.
I asked Tim at the end of the day after the repairs were complete, if any biker ever stopped to assist while I was gone and he said many, many passed and gave the ole biker wave, but nobady stopped except 2 autos and a Kansas Trooper. That's a damn shame!
I say this about that. I'll stop for most any biker I see that I think needs help. It just takes a minute to see if there's something you have that they may need or make a call for them.
Biker's do that damn biker wave like we're brothers-in-arms, but will pass a brother stranded on the side of the highway. Damn that!
Did he have a bandana tied to the handlebars? Did he motion tha he had someone already helping? I find it difficult to believe no one stopped or slowed to see if he needed more help. Doesn't happen here in CA in my experiences.
I have said this before, You did not see a biker all day! You saw people on motorcycles but no bikers were on your road!
I stop for bikes, cars, it dont matter. If someone is broke down, they most likely dont have water, tools, maybe a phone, they could have kids with them etc. It only takes a few minutes out of your day to help someone, so you get off your *** & do it!
I know your level of frustration my friend!
