Default electrical help

Washed , toweled and blow dried my 2000 XLH 1200, started right up and rode, came back and let it idle for 10 minutes, shut it off by handle bar switch. Went to start it and speedo lights up, horn works, brake lights work, signal lights do not flash, just light up, four ways will flash. Put in a new battery, same thing, check new battery 12.99 volts, checked fuses, circuit breaker, cleaned and checked battery cables. ( dealer can't take bike for 2 weeks, they said it sounds like dead or weak battery, not the case ) Has any one had a problem with the ignition switch that would cause this? Load checked battery and it is good.

Sounds like water got somewhere. I try to avoid getting my switches and such wet when washing. Check your electrical connections too. Try working your switches, they are self cleaning and might just have a little corrosion. Washing a bike is not so trouble free as your car. I take my bike for a good long 30 minute ride to make sure everything gets nice and hot and evaporates any moisture away.

This seems like a recent post I saw the other day...did you re-post? Best guess is you got something wet so wait for bike to dry fully and try again...also look for bare/frayed wiring along the frame...good luck!

Let the bike sit out in the sun for a day. That should dry out anything that got too wet.

Default Problem solved

Ignition switch is bad, hot wired and everything works, ordered new switch from dealer. I guess washing had nothing to do with the problem. I hope this will help others
