Default Electrical issue....helpppp!!!

I took a ride today and now I have a problem I have no clue how to solve. I rode about 40 miles today to pick up a new cell phone, bike ran great the whole way there. After doing my business I come out, turn the ignition switch on my 97 Heritage, hit the starter and I hear a loud click and then the dash goes dead. I turn the ignition off, back on, it lights up, loud click, it's dead again. I take off the seat and I see a small black wire that comes from the wire harness has come loose and is no longer grounded. Thinking the battery somehow went dead I call a friend to bring jumper cables and some wrenches. I get the black lead under the ground, tighten it down, and we try to jump the battery.....turns over extremely slow, won't start. After letting it charge up we try several times, won't turn over fast enough to start. We decide to try to pop start it, and it starts but won't throttle up at all, just putts. It runs poorly for about 10 minutes and stalls. I try to start it figuring after 10 minutes it must have some sort of juice and nothing, it's totally dead, no lights, no anything. I end up trailering it home, hook up the battery charger, set it to jump start, full lights, and it just clicks and doesn't turn over even though the battery is showing 15.4 volts, obviously the battery isn't the issue.....what the hell is??? I'm thinking maybe a grounding issue??? I was thinking stator on the ride home but if the battery is fully juiced that's not it. I was thinking low juice was causing the ignition to act up making it run like crap....now that can't be the issue, I don't think. I'm the worst electrical trouble guy on the planet but I absolutely have an issue and can use any suggestions you guys or gals can give me. This is my mode of transportation for right now to and from work, and I can't afford missing work or to take it to an HD dealer to get raped. Help me dudes....lol.

Seems like you have an overcharging system 15.4 volts is high for sitting around.
