Project crashed Street Glide begins
picked up a street glide cheap with some cosmetic damage from a laydown. 2013 with 6k miles that runs and drives fine. Picked up stretched bags and takeoff replacement parts from a shop down the road. Plan is to paint it a silver metalflake base, airbrush a chinese dragon that starts on the front fairing and wraps around the bike to the bags and then spray candy tangerine orange overtop and clear. Wish me luck!

I got my '06 Street Glide as a result of a crash...the former owner dodged a squirrel...and he knows better than that...and took the bike down a sand bank and thru a bob wire fence...he carried minimum insurance, couldn't afford to repair it much less get it out of the tow yard, so he approached me. I traded him my Harley, a bike that a pal and I had built over twenty years ago...think Wide Glide with a panhead engine.
The repair was simple...by the end of the first evening I had it, I had basically all of the major parts I needed...my neighbors donated a seat and brand new, in the white, front fender...the PO had both saddlebags as spares and he threw them into the deal. The bodywork and paint is what I've done for decades, no problem there...easy peasy.
The only real problem I've had with all this is that my former bike is one of a kind, and generates interest with those who know Harleys...frankly, not all that many people knew what they were looking at...and now I've got probably the most common motorcycle on earth. But that's ok, it handles my needs better than the previous one, I don't ride to keep other people satisfied.
The engine upgrade is still yet to come, when I pulled the cam chest cover off, both followers only had 10% wear, at 66,000 miles or so at the time...
OP, you're gonna have a great time with your project. I went back basically simple and stock, but now that winter's coming on, you know what you are gonna be doing in your spare time! I'll warn ya...it can be addicting!
