Default Stereo upgrade opinions

So my stock head unit took a dump on me and I'm not crazy enough to pay harley for a replacement in the 500 dollar range...

So this is a good time to consider an upgraded head unit for my road glide.

I searched in this forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.

does anybody have opinions on aftermarket head units? Sony, JVC, Alpine... also, their connectivity to handlebar controls...

Thans for your input.

Vic

I'm running a Kenwood X998 and love it. Plenty of different options to chose from. I recommend heading to the audio section, lots of expertise over there...

Biketronics kit + quality head unit with features ya want. The audio section is your friend.

You can send your head unit into Iron Cross Audio, and they'll fix it up. Actually they do some upgrades and LED changes too if you're interested. Mine took a dump a while back [2010??] and they said there are solder joint problems inherent to the HK unit. They fix the problems... I've been problem free ever since.

Mine lost audio output. Still "functioned", just no audio.

It's worth an email regardless...

Good luck

Well after hearing the $$$ people put in their sound systems there is no way I could/would afford that so here is my poor mans sound system. I have a total of $664.00 in the entire sound system this includes the 250.00 radio install kit.
Street glide with upgraded sound system:
