Default to those who have installed there own apes.. cable length??

I'm trying to piece together some cables for my ape hanger install. I'm wanting some info on the lengths of the cables I will need. I'm looking at a set of 15" bars. I've read somewhere that stock bars are 7" rise??? Is this correct?? Should I just add the +8 for cables?? Do all cables need to be + the same length. Any info will help. Thanks

The easiest way to get the cable length right is to install your bars and then measure for cable length. I did my bar swap during winter down time so I wasn't worried about the extra time it took to do this.

What he said...most "cable kits" have extra long cables

I went with +6 on my 13" and +9 on my 16". That should give some idea where to go.

Went +6 on my 10" so I could change to 12" without a problem. 15"'s might be at the 9"-10" range.

Thanks for replies, I pulled the fairing off tonight and seen there was a good bit of play in the stock cables, so I think a +8 should work out.

If the bars you are looking at are true 15s then the +8 will work fine. If they are actually taller like a lot of them are your +8 will be too short.

2010 Limited with some stuff!!

SBates is right, My bars measure 16" from bend to bend and I went with +9.

Be sure to compensate for both the additional height and any additional width too.
Simple to do just place both sets of bars on a table, stand them up together and measure the differences in grip height off the table and note the width difference by measuring bar end to bar end.
