Default Outside Air Temp Gauge on Road King

Hey guys, I bought one of those RK temperature gauges (outside air temp). It mounts in the handlebar lock, and looks really good.

But it always reads high by 10 degrees. It seems to do it whenever it is in any kind of outdoor sun or shade, which is always. The manufacturer really can't do anything to calibrate it for those conditions ... It sits in the sun. I have heard a lot of you changing temp gauges to oil temp, but I actually want air temp.

Do any of you know of an air temp gauge that has a remote sensor that might give a more accurate reading, like our cars have?

Thanks

Does the temperature come back in line after a few minutes of riding or is it always 10 high?

my el cheapo reacts very quickly as it is partially in the airstream, you can watch it climb fast when stopped and return as you ride.

It stays high, but reacts to air temp changes. I tried some test cases off the bike. It is reasonably accurate indoors, but get it where there is any radiated heat, shade or not, and it goes right up. I think the body or face heat up and throw it off.
Thanks.

By the way, Ted, I like your not-so-elegant but definitely accurate solution.
