Default Gauge of wiring

I have the aux adapter for adding switched power but I want to run the wiring into the fairing. What would be the correct gauge wire to use?

anything bigger ( smaller number) than 16 AWG will do for that.

use stranded wire, not solid.

crimps, not solder

I usually slide new wiring into a polyvinyl tube for chafe protection.

fuse at the battery end.

if you were not aware- there is unused wiring on US model bikes headlight loom( shown below) which many of us use for gps/phone/ipod etc...orange/wht is 12 volt, black is ground:

Solder can work fine. Just don't over heat the wire and allow the solder to wick up into the wire.

The correct gauge is the same size as the ones in the connector

Is the unused pair on the Rushmore designs as well? I did use the available act connection from above the glovebox to power my GPS (yes, I prefer my Zumo that much over the Boom).
