Default Oil Leak Fix?

I have 2011 FLTRU, now with >24,000 miles on the clock.

When the bike was 1 year old I hit huge pot hole just north of Knoxville and bottomed out the bike onto the frame. I was extremely fortunate that I did not go down. I checked, but found no obvious damage other than scraped paint on the frame. A few days latter I noticed that the bike had developed a small oil leak towards the front bottom of the engine.

I took the bike to my Indy who checked it out and fixed it. They said that entire oil filter / cooler / bypass assembly was held on by 2 bolts and that they had come loose. No more leaks for the rest of that season. The next season I hit another big pot hole and the bike started leaking again. Once again they fixed it. I think we went through this 1 more time after that.

This weekend while in Morgantown, WV for Mountainfest I managed to hit another big pot hole.

Guess what? The bike is leaking oil again. Still not big leak, still near the front of the engine, but it is leaking. I am not happy!

Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so were able to to get a good fix. I am tired of doing this nearly once each season.

I would appreciate any honest help.

For any idiot that would advise trying to miss the pot holes, bite me!

ok, consider yourself bit, but that would be the best way not to keep f...ing up your bike.Having said all that, I do know about some of the roads in that area, as I used to do long haul, so easier said than done.BTW, I am most certainly NOT an idiot, so apology accepted. Ride safe

I'm struck by your ability to find, and ride into, large potholes.

My bike is no lower than a Street Glide or an Ultra Low.
Also try riding a full height Ultra with a 28" inseam. Doesn't work real well.

Before I thought of lowering my Road Glide Ultra closer to the pavement, I sent my seat down to Mean City Cycles. The worked their magic and everything is right in the world for my inseam defeciencies. My big bitch with open roads is the big jarring you get when crossing bridges at the asphalt to concrete separation. Rail road crossings are next, some have sweet spots to roll over and some are just too late. It's all just a crap shoot!

Same thing happened to me check the torque on your oil pan bolts mine was seeping all the way around but it looked as if the thing was leaking in the front. Also there is a known problem with the 2 bolts holding the exhaust bracket on the right side. The big bumps may jarred the bolts loose.
