Riders Can't Hear Me When Xmit using CB Radio at Hwy Speed
Have a 2012 Ultra Limited. I can hear all riders in our group clearly over the CB radio at hyw speed. But all they hear from me when I transmit is a washing machine sound like distortion (completely unintelligible). They can hear me fine when we do our comm check in the parking lot and not moving or at speeds below 30 mph or so. Any ideas what's causing this and how best to fix? Most of the other riders in the group are GL 1800 types and they say I need a new bike (smile) BTW have checked J&M boom mic orientation to ensure it is pointed in the right direction.

Consider changing your helmet to a quieter design. You are overpowering the microphone with wind noise. Try leaning forward behind the windshield to see if they can hear you better. If they can, a better designed helmet will take care of some of the issue. On our bikes, we can talk up to about 60, then wind noise is too much.
If you have no windshield or a shorty, you might do better with a regular shield. Anyway, it is probably wind noise and you will have to find a way to address the wind before you can be heard.
