Default 12" Road King rear shocks

Going over the the new to me 2002 Road King, and found that the left rear shock is leaking oil, so I figure I need new shocks. Going through the boxes of parts I got with the bike, I found a box with "54631-02 Profile Low Touring Shocks". The shocks on the bike measure 12" center to center.

The shocks in the box look like new, and have 54565-97B on them and measure about 12-3/4". The guy I bought the bike from said the forks were also lowered, but I didn't find any extra springs, and nothing looks out of place on the triple tree.

I weigh 240, and 90% of the time I'll be solo. My wife would like to ride with me, and she weighs around 220, so I need the adjust ability of air.

What shocks do I replace them with?

I'm assuming if I put the taller shocks on, it would throw something off since the front was also lowered?

I doubt if the longer shocks will give any problems, the increased length isn't so very much. Next time you visit a bike or meet up with someone with a dresser compare your fork length with theirs.

As for adjusting the air shocks, they do have that, but there are nicer adjustable shocks available which will give the two of you a nicer ride! It's a frequently visited subject on HDF.

3/4 of an inch isn't going to make much difference.
Throw em on a try them out.
