Ohlins are very pricey and no matter what shock you use to lower the bike, you will have shorter travel. Unless you want to drag the tire on the fender. One more reason to not use lowering blocks as the tire may come into contact with the fender.

Mine is lowered 1 1/2" inches in the rear. Front is lowered the same amount but the 21" wheel raises it back up about that much also.

Look at Motorcycle Metal. The 2 series shocks can lower the rear and retain travel. Same with the 940s and 944s. Bitchin baggers gets tons of good reviews but your paying just to lower the bike. My point was that you might as well throw another couple hundred bucks at it and get a good shock while your at it. A lot of people find that the blocks work for them...but a lot find that they don't fit, break, or cause tire rubbing just depends on the block you choose and how your ride is set up.

I went with Progressive Suspension 944 shocks to lower the rear on my SG. The front end was also lowered 1". I also needed to change out the jiffy stand to 1" under to keep the bike from tipping over to the right side. With these changes the bike can still fall over to the right, so I am very careful when turning the handle bars from left to right if the bike is on its jiffy stand. I am always on the right side of the bike when I am doing this.

Are you guys saying that lowering shocks retain the same upward wheel travel as stock length shocks. Or, are you saying total travel is the same as stock. Make sure you know what you are getting...

944 Series Ultra-Touring and Ultra-Low Shocks

944 ULTRA TOURING: Specifically designed to deliver a comfortable ride at a 1" lowered stance. Built around our latest FST technology, The Ultra Touring shocks utilize all the suspension travel provided by the full length units, but in a 1" lowered ride height. The unique Ultra Touring spring combination not only delivers a lowered ride height while its being ridden, but also while it’s on the side stand.
944 ULTRA LOW: Just like the name implies, this is the lowest version of our 944 Series shocks. Designed to sit 2” lower than a stock HD Touring model and provide the best ride a short shock can! Want your bike in the weeds or struggling to reach the ground? The 944 Ultra Low is the shock for the job.
*There is no substitute for suspension travel, for optimum ride quality we recommend the taller Ultra Touring version of our 944 Series shocks.
