Default 2009 Road King/2016 Streetglide fender

I've scoured the forum and can't seem to find specifics on this. I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

Ive got a 2009 road King and I'm putting a 2016 Streetglide fender on it. The Streetglide tailight bar will be used as well. This is where I'm running into issues.

I have the harness and wire bundle from the road king that runs underneath the fender. In this bundle there are 6 wires:

Black
Purple
Blue
Brown
Red
Orange/White

On the Streetglide tailight there are:
Black x3
Blue x2
Purple x2

So basically I need to know what the 6 wires on the Road King do, so I can connect everything up correctly.
I have the diagram for the 2009 Roadking, but it only labels the wires after the next harness and not the 6 wires in the long 'fender' bundle.

Any help is appreciated.

you should get a wiring diagram, and read up posts on the SG fender conversion- on pre-rushmore bikes there is a module in the trilight which controls the rear lighting.

Harley forever used this scheme- I know this to be true for 2013 and earlier models- !

black- ground
Red/yel stripe- brake
blue- run
orange white - fender tip or plate light ( international models, run light)
purp and brown are left and right turn signals respectively

You'll need to figure out the fender wiring, a Rushmore ( canbus) wiring diagram is needed

Thanks mk!

I have the service manual with the diagram. What I am trying to do is clip the wires prior to the module and just connect the tailight wires to the 6 wires coming from under the seat (part no. 68772-06). I just wanted to clip the wires before the pins and solder everything up.

Maybe that's not possible. Do I need that module to run the lights?

Thanks again.

get a 2016 diagram- I am pretty sure you need the module...I do not have a 2014+ manual so can;t be of any help

2.) soldered joints do not hold up well on vehicles which vibrate- the wire strands will flex and break right where the tinning ends.
not tomorrow but sometime down the road.

oem's use crimp terminals

I solder for a living.

Wow. Good to know. I was thinking soldering would be the best option. I do have stuff to crimp, so I'll go that route. It'll be fun getting the shrink wrap around six crimped connections, but that's all part of the game.

And just to be clear- I'm installing the 2016 SG run/stop/turn bar (with license plate light/mount). There is no separate tail light. Here's some pics of everything.

on the earlier SG, the tailights plug into the trilight- which has a module to turn the 2 lights into run/stop/turn.

this has been done before, search around.

As Mike said,I think you're gonna need the Street Glide facia with the Tri-bar light.Since 2010 the harness goes from under the seat to the Tri-bar light, and then out of the Tri-bar to the fender mounted run/turn/brake light.

Well, I got it buttoned up last night. I split the brake and run light wires to each bulb. Everything else was 1-to-1. The problem I hit is that the brake being split created a circuit so now when I hit either signal, they both go (hazards). No idea how to fix that.......

With your new signal bar,I don't think there is any separate wiring for the brake and turn function.I believe brake/turn is created in the tri-bar module, and sent to the lights one a single wire per side.
