The hell with that, I removed the filter from the equation and relocated it:

I have given up on being neat. I just spray Simple Green on the bike under the filter and and remove it with a J-D filter wrench. Then hose off the Simple Green. Note: I have found that the Dollar General copy cat product does just as good and it even smells like Simple Green at half the cost.

I just installed the 3guyz kit which is the old jerryrigssystem but with the updated fittings.
The kit came with the fittings already sealed and installed. Took about 30 mins to install.
I like the fact i can fill my filter and not spill a drop at oil changes. Great costumer service to.

It took a second to fill the lines and filter with oil but not any longer than expected. Took a 300 mile run this weekend and it worked as expected. Great mod, would do it on the wifes FX but it wouldn't look right on the rear of a Dyna.

I know an old timer that swears by tipping his bike on it's right side (resting on the crash bars) before removing the filter. He puts padding under the crash bars to protect them and just lets it lay over. The filter oil drains back into the bike allowing him to remove the filter without making a mess. Kind of ingenious and crazy at the same time!
