Default Hard bags on a Road King Classic

Does anyone know if pre 09 hard bags will fit on my 09 RKC without modifying the mounting brackets or support rail or the bags themselves? I guess I am asking would it be a straight up bolt them on and go situation? I like the look of the leather wrapped bags but I like the option of locking bags more. I carry tools and other items that I'm just not comfortable leaving in an unlocked bag. And yes I know if someone wants my stuff they'll get it. But at least I can slow them down a little with a lock.
I have seen a couple of sets off of pre 09 bikes on Craigslist for a reasonable price. If they'll fit I might pull the trigger.

Bags are the same from '93-'13. Yes they are a direct bolt on.

Have you also considered some of the lock options for your bag like this?

If you are buying new bags, you should get post '14 bags. It's a slight mod to the front mount but the lids/latches are awesome.

That's exactly what I did. I dig the looks and security of hard bags. I bought 'em used and took my key code to the dealer and got a matching set of locks for $50.00 and now I only need one key for everything. All you have to do is adjust the mounting brackets to line up with your new bags and you're golden. Good luck!!

The bags are no issue fitting on, and you can use the newer style too, with some minor modification/movement to the front bag bracket, as I understand it.

Shameless plug, I have a pair of excellent condition 13 and older bag lowers for sale - the previous owner of my RKC added them, and I replaced with with extended bags. They have about 1k miles of use. PM me if you're interested. I'm ready to make a deal!

You might want to change the set up on the pins that hold them on because they can steal your locked bag in a matter of seconds by prying the clip that holds the pins in on the bracket . You can go to this website baggerSTDs.com to see what I am talking about or change the pins to nuts and bolts

Sorry but it is the leather bags that make it a Road King Classic over a Road King!

I really like those older Road King accessory leather bags,
with the V on the side. Can't lock em, but really. Those locks
on the hard bags are pretty flimsy.
