Default 2001 touring tire size

Has anyone put a MU85B16 American Elite tire on a 2001 touring bike ? I believe the Original size is a MT90B16 and MT90 came on the 1998-2003 if I'm not mistaken. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jonnierock

MT90 is 130mm wide, MU85 is 140mm wide. When I used an aftermarket 140 I had to trim the rubber part of the belt guard, seems to depend on the brand of tyre used. Otherwise should work fine.

I've had zero clearance issues running 140's on my 99 RK. About six tires or more.

Some have squeezed a 150 in there, but wouldn't clear on my 2001.So the logical thing was to change to the newer style arm, narrow belt and pulley and Brembo caliper to match the fronts...

That's what I found and did, with my 1990 Glide. With a later wheel and narrow belt the 150 fits fine. With a bit more effort I later squeezed in my Deuce rear wheel and 160 tyre!

Like to know if the one size up America elite works also. I have the C2 140 on my bike and with the rubber off the gaurd, it rubs the belt only in reverse. Think the commander just doesn't stop good, 140 is better than the 130. Still have a 402 up front & think I'm going to go American alite for both when they are due.

I have been doing a ton of reading an people doing the narrower pulley/belt. You and aches got my wheels turning ab this on my brembo thread. Since iv got my bike tore apart it's a great time to do this. However currently I have a 70t rear 32t front sprocket and 136t belt. The only belts I have found that are 1 1/8" are 139t that's 3 teeth longer? How are you guys getting the adjustment with longer belt?.....maybe I'm over thinking it 🤔
