Default Saddlebag Fasteners

I never had a problem with the Dzus fasteners, except a little fiddling to get started, but think maybe a screw fastener might help with bag theft. Many threads on it but do the screw type fasteners, like some of our members sell, ie https://securemybagz., stay tight?

They stay tight, but you can buy all that crap at a hardware store for a fraction of the cost.

you can also purchase the 2017 style saddlebag securing stuff from hd. msrp is in the $50 range, but can be had for a lot less than that through one of the discounters. i paid in the $32 range. yes, it's more than the hardware store, but i compared the stuff from the hardware to the hd stuff and the hd stuff was much more robust.

i like it because it has 'dimples' on the washers so as you tighten, the dimples act like lockwashers to hold it from backing off.

Default Bag Security

I just went to Ace Hardware and bought 4 speed nuts (also called clip nuts) and four allen head bolts with fender washers. They were all stainless steel 5/16-24 threads and I measured for the appropriate length. About 5 dollars in hardware.

A $25.00 bolt kit from Bagger STD's would have prevented losing this saddlebag in the middle of Arizona during a road trip.

Factory bag fasteners on the 17's are some honking big things , takes a chunk of room in the bag.
