Process for trimming Batwing Wind Screen
I have seen some folks mention trimming their windscreens. I tried to search, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I just received my LRS recurve, and installed it. I ordered the 12" after a friend helped me measure. it is a bit too high. I can see over it, but just barely. I think I need to take it down a bit. I live in Germany, and don't really want to deal with sending it back or ordering another one.
Can someone tell me how you go about trimming it properly? I was thinking I could just some off the bottom and elongate the screw holes upwards.
Do those who have done this use a dremel tool?
Any help appreciated.

That is a bummer and a bit more complicated with a flip shield. You about have to do the operation from the bottom of the shield or you will lose the advantage of the flip. Like said, just take your time. I would suggest making a template from the holes you have now and take it from there. Best of luck!!! Conversely ya might try to call LRS for help. Who knows, they may send you another shorter shield.

Yep
Cutting it with a jigsaw is what I did...from the bottom. The material will melt and gel together again behind the blade so be careful. I made two passes, then snapped it carefully. A pair of pliers can be used to grab the hardened melted material once you've got the peices separated and snap it off, and the edge cleaned up with a razor knife. Be sure to tape it up good to protect the usable surfaces.
The elongation of the holes would worry me though. If you can determine your hole pattern I'd drill it with single holes, I mean after all, you just sliced the bottom off, so now it becomes your project. I cut 2" off the bottom and used the fairing hole pattern. Soft clamps held the screen in place while I marked it out and squared it. Different bike on mine, but same application to modify. Measure twice, cut once.

Mine was borderline too high also. The top was right at my line of sight making me stretch up to look over. I just drilled 3 new holes at the bottom and slid it down 1" without trimming anything. I measured up from top of the current mounting notch 3/4". Drilled a 1/8" pilot hole, then 3/8" and followed with a 1/2". It took a little reaming to be sure all 3 fit over the brass inserts. That 1" drop made a huge difference.

Mine is a 2002, I just realized you have a 2017. You may have to trim some at the bottom because of the vent. It shouldn't be too difficult.
