Anyone try a Freedom Shield windshield replacement for their tourer? Sounds like it might be a good replacement for stock shield. Do their suggestions for determining height work? I want to try looking over the shield and this thing claims it shoots the wind up an additional 2 inches. So I'm not sure if I need an 8, 9 or 10 inch shield. I put a line at 10 inches and that seems to be just at eye level where I could still look thru or sit up straight and look over. I used to be 5'11" but that was back in my younger days. I'm sure I've shrunk now in my golden years. So I'm wondering if I go with an 8 inch because of the two inch thing or stick with the 10. Or go with a compromised 9. So anyone who actually has one that could give some insight would be great. Thanks.
My Freedom Shield works great. I would suggest the shorter shield for you to look over. I had one set up like you were talking, being able to look over or through. Sucked. You go up a slight hill, or down a little, round a corner, etc, that line of the top of the shield is right in the wrong place. I have mine now where I can look over the top of it. Perfect.
I have an 8" Freedom Shield on my SG. I'm about 5"9" and I look way over it (probably 3-4") so I went with a dark smoke. I can hold my hand in front of my face and move it up and I don't feel any buffeting until my hand is at the top of my helmet. Freedom Shields are thicker than the others and the finish is excellent.

I saw that thicker thickness statement. Does that cause any installation problems with a three pocket storage thing?
I have the 10" smoked Freedom shield, I'm 5'10 and do look over it with the current aftermarket seat. The seat sits higher than the old stock seat on my 2006. Great quality shield and gives me as much protection as the stock 12" did.

I have the 3 pocket storage thing. I found the stock bolts to be long enough. The only issue was that due to the thickness of the windshield and the pocket a very narrow gap was left about 1 inch or so on either side of the windshield between the inner and outer fairing. I simply taped off the edges of the inner and outer fairing and ran a small bead of clear silicone across the gap. When you remove the tape, you cannot notice it unless you are absolutely looking for it.
