Hawg Wired Installed - And Ecstatic
Hey,
hmmm now this is interesting that I could change the title of this thread
Below are my orignial comments here are my new comments
So I spoke with Paul at Hawg Wired and I'm pretty impressed. I still need to give it the highway test but things are sounding much louder.
Here is the recap.
During the installation I followed the instructions AND after tuning the system in, I rolled back the gain slightly in an effort to protect the speakers.
While this produced a loud driveway sound with excellent tone, It didn't blow me away at highway speed. From there I started bumping up the HK radio unit which introduced a slight amount of distortion into the system. I incorrectly assumed this was the Hawg Wired amp running out of headroom when in fact it was the HK radio that reached it's limit.
Paul at Hawg Wired recommended I increase the gain on the Hawg wired amp to the high end of their recommended range or even a little over ( AS long as I keep keep the HK unit to under 75% of full power the speakers should be well protected and I should have a clean sound)
The drive way test is pretty impressive. I'm on a conference call now but will take it out to give it the highway test in about an hour.
I'm thinking I am going to be happy with the new setting
****original comment*************
Just installed my Hawg wired amp and speakers in my 07 roadglide.
Initialcomment - Not Impressed
I don't hear $800 dollars worth of value in the sound.
I have an email to tech support at Hawg Wired, maybe I did something wrong.
Right now I'd say the system is a minor improvement over the stock 07 Radio and speakers.
The Hawg wire stuff looks impresssive. but I'm not hearing it.
One potential problem is theleft channel plays louder than the right.
I have the settings on the amplifier set midway between their recommended normal settings
ALSO - Someone on this forum said to take the headlight bracket out while putting the outer fairing back on the Road Glide .
I can't remember who made this suggestion. BUT THANKS. That is definitely the way to install the Road Glide Fairing.

yes I heard this system and you have it installed correct or it wouldn't work. Running everything through the amp would be the only way for it to work. You might want to check the positive and negitive connections to be sure you don't have them swithced. I was sold on the amp but after hearing them in a demo bike I decided against. They are horrible and tha bass sounds worse then before. Take them out a return them. Look at jbl's amp system but the hawg wired are a joke!

Can only comment on the Hawg-wired system i have. No complaints ever and way better than stock. Worth every $ i spent.
Not sure why yours is not operating properly, but lets see how Hawg-wired respond. Hope you get it fixed, as they are a blast when going.

RE: Hawg Wired Installed - And Not Happy
With the JBL set-up I would just buy the amp and then look for some even better after market speakers. It sounds silly but I have put $40.00 wal-mart sony xplods in 5 different touring bikes. I was next to the hawg wired demo bike and my system with 2 speakers was clearer, crisper, more defined bass, and about as loud. It sounds goofy I know that $40.00 would be that big of a deal but it is. They are the best speakers I have ever tired. I tried about 7 different sets from best buy ranging from $89.00-$250.00. They all were just ok. The sony xplods are the only 4-way 5.25" speaker on the market! I am going to try the JBL amp with them but they are great! I dare someone to go to wal-mart pop the $40 and thats including tax and tell me that that don't blow away hawg wired and hog tunes!
