Left off one Kenny Daye. If you don't need the radio then this is a good batwing style fairing that looks like a stock one. Mounts the same as the stock windshield on the RK Classic. Heres the website : www.kendayproducts.com

The radio option for long trips is great. Being able to dress down for around town, convenient.

Have been toying with this idea as well. I'd love to get a new FLHX but the expense is more than I want to get into this year, so ......

I have met and spoken with Kevin of Dragonfly and they sell a soup to nuts unit. I've seen his ride up close and it sure looks nice. If you catch him at one of the shows you can probably knock a few hundred bucks off.

bluesteel,

What are your aspirations with a fairing?

In other words what do you want the shield for:

Radio/AM/FM/CD/MP-3/XM or Sirius?

Gauges?

Cig lighter?

Locking unitthat youlift on lift off no nuts and bolts (quick turn arounds between touring and hot rod)?

Canvas for paint, add style, change windshield glass, want to stand out from other Ultras and EG's?

Protection from winter wind and weather?

To add lower "dragon wings" little vent deflectors off the sides of the fairing in front of your knees?

If your answer is Yes to all the above, Your going to enjoy the Dead Center Cycle fairing.

I think its the coolest mod you can do to a RK. Talk about versatile bikes...it makes the RK the true King with a detach windshield, and fairing.

$2700...this is the price I found for a:
dead center cycle fairing
a retro radio w/ a sony CD/MP3 player and speakers
the hand controls for the radio
the paint.

This was when I had my RK Custom last year before I decided to simply trade it for an SG. I did a lot of research and felt Dead Center Cycle was the way to go for me. You may feel different.

After toying with the idea of an aftermarket fairing for my Road King, and doing alot of reading. I was able to gahter this from most. (again just how I was seeing it)

How often do you ride without the fairing now? Ans: Only when I wash it

How do you enjoy having a fairing over a windshield? Ans: I dont know I ever went this long without a fairing

Whats the biggest downfall to having a fairing? Ans: Not having it on.

So I decided to look at modifing an ultra fairing. Best part is I found a guy who had already done the work and decided to sell it, so my gain. Cost me 1K for the fairing complete and so far about $250 for paint and hardware to wire her up, and about 4 hours of my time. Here is a couple of pics, outter fairing still out for paint.

Frank

Here are a couple of pics of the completed project....well this part at least

Frank,

Good reasearch, and good looking Mod.I have thought of doing the exact same to my RK before I opted for the Dead Center Cycles Fairing.

You have some killer speakers in that thing now. A couple little spots for gauges would work good for tweeters too.

I like what you have done. Two main reasons not going that same route, could not find doner as quick as wanted within price range, and didn't like all the noise that UC and EGowners were telling about broken brackets inside!!!

Hope that you don't encounter the bracket issues.

Great job on her.
