Default Rear Fender Removal Road King '05 Custom

I read a Clymer manual on rear fender removal and it mentioned nothing about the battery box being a pain in the a__. There is a fastener between the fender and the battery box. How do I get to it? Do I have to remove the rear tire? Is there another way? What kind of screw is it? Thanx for any help you can offer....

Thats why you need an HD service manual. Sorry I can't help you with the fastener.

Its a torx screw I can't remember what size. What I did it removed the rear suspension on the bike which will allow the rear tire to totally strech out. Jack the bike up until the swing arm cannot lower at all anymore. The best best once you have the swing arm lowered is to have a set of torc bit sockets. Grab a socket driver and place the torx bit on the screw. It should stay in place long enough to get the driver on the socket. The most room you have to use the driver is the handle pointed up near the sky. Get it started and then jsut remove the driver. You can do it by hand after that. Its no bad with the suspension off. I will send you my phone number in your PM's if you have a question feel free to call me.

remove bottom bolts from rear shocks, rear tire will drop down just enough to reach in between the tire and fender and remove the torx bolt. and get yourself a hd manual, saves alot of headache
