got the 4 side ones off no prob but the one on the rear fender by the tire has me for a loop. looks like it hooks in between the two metals for the fender but i don't want to take a screw driver to it there has to be a "proper" way to remove it without bending things.
I haven't looked under there on mine, but I would assume you loosen a screw and twist like a cross fitting. I have the service manual, let me have a look and I will tell you.
I believe there are some tabs and some 3M tape holding that little sucker in there. Others have pried it off with no damage, but the only surefire way is to loosen / remove the rear fender, which on the Breakout isn't actually that bad.
Take the rear fender off. You will see there is a u-shaped piece bolted in underneath the fender. A brace or support type piece that lines the inside of the fender. That piece also holds the rear reflector in. The reflector has metal tabs that hold it in place along with tape. Remove the bolts from one side of the struts that are holding the support piece and you should be able to lift it up enough to get the metal tabs out of their slots.
It's wedged in between the fender and another piece of sheet metal, and held in by two tabs that protrude up.. I could pry one out with a screw driver, the other I just cut off with a dremel tool. No need to remove the fender.
Every Time I see a thread about removing the reflectors I think why would anyone do that . Well I think I know you want to get hit by a car and your next of kin can sue .
I will keep my reflectors if just one driver will see me before turning into me .

I also feel a little better with them on also, just in case Murphy visits you...
Also in our state they are starting to make sure you have them to get a sticker...they dont take up much room...
Ride safe.
It's a personal choice, the bike just looks cleaner without the reflectors.
And Murphy doesn't discriminate, he's gonna take ya downtown anytime he feels like it.
