Has anyone had any luck with toning these down with fiberglass packing/matting? I love the sound but after a couple hundred miles these just make my ears ring.
Why not just get a set of ear plugs? Me and my dad rode our bikes from South Carolina to Indiana, and both of us have Rinehart True Duals on our bikes. With a set of ear plugs in, I could barely hear my dad's pipes in front of me. No ringin' in my ears at all after a 620 mile one-way trip. That would be my recommendation for long rides. I picked up my ear plugs for a couple bucks at Walmart.
I used stainless steel matt that I had lying around.
It seems to have done well at quiting down the overall volume.
I've only had them wrapped about 500 miles so I don't know how long it will hold up.
I'm running the quiet baffels (no packing) and I'd say they are much quieter runnin down the road. But as said above, still have a nice bark when you get on the throttle. Takes a little coaxing to remove the originals, other than that it's an easy job. I originally planned to swap em back and forth but haven't bothered for over a year. So I guess I'm happy with em.
if you wanted your bike to be quiet leave the stock pipes on it , no disrespect intened legal is 94 dec. any after market pipe cept scremmin eagles are over that i think
