I ride an '08 Electraglide Classic and have had the seat off sevral times. There are only two screws holding it on. The first is at the back of the passenger seat on top of the rear fender. I open my tour pack to get at this one. The other one is on the shifter side of the bike. It anchors the passenger strap to the bike. Once I've removed those two screws, I slide the seat back off the metal tongue at the front of the seat and lift it off. Only takes about five minutes.
I have an 02..no grab strap on seat....seat removal can be done in a minute or less. The only thing that would cause it to take longer, is if you have a driver backrest....and removing THAT takes only seconds.
Only way I know of to wire in a pigtail requires access to the battery, btw...
I replaced the rear screw with a thumbscrew $15.95 HD part 51676-97A. It makes it much easier to remove the seat. No need to use an offset screwdriver under tourpack and eliminates the possibility of scratching the fender.
I used to wonder when I was at any tool store what in the world anyone would need with a screwdriver that had an 18" shaft, until I got my first Ultra. +1 on the battery tender, it's a lot easier to deal with when you get one of those winter days that you can still ride.
He's my 2 cents: Take the screw out of the back of the seat and put it in your tool box in case you sell the bike. I put around 65000 miles on my old 98 Ultra and never had a bolt in the seat and the seat never came off the bike with me on it or me not on it.
Be very careful when lifting the seat off the bike. Hold the back of the seat with your hand covering the mounting bracket, so you avoid scratching the tour pak.
As for the pigtail, take a look under your side covers (fuse box area) Some dealers install the pigtail so that its under these covers and out of the way. This only applies to the EG series.
