Got an electric vest given to me and was looking at taking the seat off ultra to hook up direct to battery. The screw at rear of seat is on such an angle that I can not get at it from the top it seems. Do I need to remove tour pak to get the screw outt..If so are the bolts threaded into the tour pak so when undone the nuts on inside of tour pak stay where they are or do I have to remove inside liner of tour pak to hold nuts on inside..Is there tricks to getting the seat undone without removing tour pak..The angle of the screw into fender is not straight down so I can not get a bite on it from the top. Screw leans back to much..Suggestions.??
Greetings! Have had my Ultra seat off several times and just used an extra long screw driver. I finally replaced the stock screw with a round thumb screw. Hope this helps, as I never had to take of the trunk.
I had a problem with it too until I got used to it. Open the tour pak but don't take it off. If you push the rear cushon of the seat away from the screw you should be able to get a long driver at it. I have a flexable attachment for one of my ratchet drivers that works pretty good. Even with this, I got sick and tired of this and have also purchased the thumb screw.
I could be wrong but I think there are at least two positions for the Tourpak one of which sets it back further than the other - On mine though I can just open the lid and use a long phillips to get the screw out but even then it is at a slight angle- I wonder if your dealer used the more forward position - Again please remember I don't know jack crap so I could be way off on this!
A long screw driver works. Make sure and cover the metal on the seat with your hand when you take off the seat as to not scratch the tour pack. Also if you get the connector and terminals from the dealer(mine cost 14 bucks can) you can plug your vest into the accessory plug and use the switch on the dash to turn on or off the vest as you ride.
Does anyone know for sure if the Tour Pak has two options for placement without aftermarkt parts? If it does, I'd love to be able to move it back an inch or two to gain some space. I know that Kuryakyn sells a relocation part that moves it back 2 inches ($189.00), so I'm thinking that the pak can't be adjusted on it's own.
