Default How to remove seat 05 Electraglide Classic?

Can somebody please tell me how you remove the seat without removing the tour pack? I see the screw at the back of the seat where its attached to the rear fender, I think you just unscrew it and slide it off but the tour pak is in the way so how do you remove the seat? I need to replace the battery. Thanks

Put a small screwdriver in there between the tour pak and seat and then take the screw out. Then when you're done and put it back on, replace that with a thumb screw (HD has them) and you won't have to worry about it again. If your seat still has the strap you will have to remove that also. Then yes, just slide it off the tab in front.

I have an 05 ultra which is basically the same as the electraglide classic. Remove the screw and lift the seat up. It will clear the tour pack.

I went to Sears and bought the longest #2 Phillips they had. It makes it much easier.

When I had my Tour Pak installed, I would open it all the way before I attempted to remove the seat. This gave me more room to screw at the back.

Dave

Opening the tourpak will give access to the screw at the rear of the seat. Remove the screw with a long phillips driver and the seat can then be removed. Reverse the process to reinstall. Some have replaced the phillips with an internal hex (Allen) or thumb screw but do not leave the thumbscrew finger tight (for obvious reasons).

Real long Philips screwdriver, it will clear the tour pak with a little encouragement.

Wink Seat Removal

When removing the seat with the Tour Pak still on, use a long Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw. Once the screw is removed, slide the seat towards the back towards the Tour Pak. You will need to place your hand between the seat bracket and the inside of the Tour Pak to prevent scratching the Tour Pak as you lift the seat up. I've seen several Tour Paks that have been mutilated by those that don't. Reinstall in reverse and use a thumbscrew in place of the Phillips screw.
