Anybody have experience and can recommend a good replacement shock??
For 2 UP riding on a trip with tbag.
OEM seems harsh at times..22 day trip this summer .
Dont want the SLAM on the fly kits though.
really, for the best ride, if you can swing it, just for the trip, is to replace the street glide shocks with almost anything that is stock length for the other touring bikes (ie 13 inch). that extra inch of travel will add greatly to your comfort level, even if they are stockers from another tourer.
Penske shocks - check out motorcyclemetal.com. Provides an amazing change to the ride quality - and since they're adjustable - you can set them for 2 up or solo riding.
Assuming the air pressure has been checked and adjusted appropriately, correct?.... Our local dealer let at least 3 touring bikes out with only 5 psi air in the shocks... found it on a long ride when one of us bought a pump on sale, and checked his... Then we checked bike #2, same thing.. bike 3 also same thing....

Thank you!
I've had Progessives and although better than stock I prefer the Works Street Trackers.
2nd that on the stock 13" eglide shocks. You can pick up an almost new pair on eBay for under $100 and the difference in ride comfort is amazing. I'm sure the Penske & Ohlins shocks are better but they surely can't be $500 better!
How much do you want to spend ? Get the Progressives($500) 940 , they are 12" shocks that give you the ride of a 13" shock. It sounds confusing but it really works. I took the cheap way out , I wanted a lower bike so I bought a 12" air shock from the HD OEM brand. Now it sits on my UC. I like the lower shock and seat so I can get to a better handling posistion with 2 up and packages and 900 + lbs to balance , YEA get me close to the ground !!
