Horn Relocation with Pictures
I know everyone has there own style and opinion on what they like and don't like, but I have always thought the horns on these things were pretty ugly dangling down the side of the engine and way lame sounding, so I thought I'd show you how to relocate it in about 15 minutes of your time. If you like the simple, clean look this is the way to go.
#1) Head down to your Napa store and get part #730-1046 for $23. It's a 134db universal horn. Way louder than stock.....even where we are putting it!
#2) Unplug the 2 wires on the back of the horn. Now pull the two 9/16" bolts out that hold the horn bracket to the cylinders.
#3) Cut the bracket off so it looks straight and touch it back up with paint. Like picture #3 below.
#4) Reinstall the support bracket back on the jugs for strength.
#5) Take the wires you unplugged from the horn and run them out the other side of the bike. Now what you are going to do is extend them and go back under your right side cover with them.
#6) Bolt the horn to the threaded insert in the side of the battery box and plug it in.
That's it! It cleaned up your bike and hid the horn. It is still louder than stock being under the cover. I do take a couple extra minutes and just unbolt the tank and lift it to run the wires in the plastic tray under the tank, but that's up to you. Have fun!
