1998 RC "mileage/odometer" replacement?
Hello Folks,
Have a 1998 Road King Anny, and while the speedo is working fine, the LCD mileage / odometer is bleeding the #'s, whereas I can not read the first 3 digits.
I know there is a retrofit kit ($273) #67033-95D, which you have to cut all 12 wires from the back of the old speedo, crimp 12 new Deutsch connectors, and reconnect to the new speedo . . .
But since the ONLY &#&#&#& problem is the mileage odometer LCD, is there a way or has anyone just replaced the LCD mileage/odometer unit, and if so any advice, suggestions or precautions?
In advance, thanks . . .

wow ???,
can't you use an ebay speedometer with a kit like 74468-03.
A search on internet shows that 1998 speedometers on road kings seems to show several reports of odometer leaks..I have a 1998 efi road king classic and it has a few very very small leaks on edges..
downside to replacement of speedometer with-out following proper channels is that bike could be declared TMU..TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN

The new speedo "kit" for a 1998 KC is #67033-95D, which includes (1) 67033-99a Speedo, and the retrofit kit # 67418-99 ( Duetsch mini terminals, connector/adapter.
So, yes if I can acquire a 67033-99a speedo (off ebay) and purchase the 67418-99 kit from Harley, I should be good to go, assuming I can get access to a Duetsch crimping tool.
I was hoping that I did 'not' have cut all the wires off the old speedo . .. but simply "replace" the LCD odometer unit!
