1995 Road King Oil in air filter.....
Hey All,
New to the Site. On my second year of riding a 1995 Road King. Changed the oil a couple of times and tonight I pulled my air cleaner off (K & N) to clean it. Oil was dripping off the back plate. Any idea's?? Also, I'm tired of the $10 a quart oil from Harley, any suggestions on what to replace it with? Thanks!!

Your bike was born for dino oil, not synthetic. In my 95 I used the H-D 360 and had over 80,000 trouble free miles when I sold it last year. Other brands may save you $10 over every 3000 miles.
If the bike has been sitting,a small amount of oil can/will seep past the check ball into the motor case. ( this was MUCH worse when the oil tank was above the motor, under the seat. about '93 the oil tank was moved under the tranny, it's current position.
in the above circumstance; on start up, you will see lots of oil coming from the breather.
---OR you may be overfilled. Many of us run 1 pint low on the dipstick, overfilled oil tank will also blow the dipstick out on hard acceleration ( messy!)
Some oil mist will coming from the breather, and collect in the air filter housing, a wipe once in a while ( if you have an open high flow air cleaner) will solve that. I have a Pal who uses a maxi pad applied to the bottom inside of the air cleaner cover ( change every 28 days).
IF the bike is ridden regularly, not over filled and spewking enough oil to make you right leg water proof, then you may need to get the umbrella valves in the heads serviced/ replaced.

My '95 EGC suffered from the same problem. I tried everything suggested above and none of that stuff worked. I even replaced the rubber breather umbrellas that my local dealer said were new and "improved" (actually he said they were "the cat's a$$". Well, they worked more like what comes out of a cat's a$$).
Finally I ran the rocker vents down underneath the carb to a 'T' and then ran a single line between the tranny and engine case directly to atmosphere.
No more oil in my filter (or down the side of the bike) but there's always one oil drop on the ground wherever I park her.
My Evo prefers Mobil1 V-Twin at the correct level and ATF in the primary.
