Default Cracked bung weld

On my rinehart true duals the rear cylinder weld around the O2 bung is cracked. If I drill a small hole at each end of the crack to stop it from further itself and have a muffler shop weld around it again do you think this will work? The crack is about half way around right at the base of the weld where it meets the header pipe. So I am thinking this will work it not like it is in a area of stress or mounting tension and vibration. What do you guys think or what input do you have out there welders and exhaust men?

Negative had for about 3 years now. But I did email Rinehart so we will see what they says tomorrow but back then they were built by Bubs and they had a 90 day warranty.

Take it to a TIG welding specialist. I would not drill any holes, have the welder excavate the crack and re-weld it.

I would also request them to weld it with stainless filler metal. This will let it flex better if it is under stress and with expanand and contract better than mild steel filler.
