I've been chasing a ticking in the top end ever since cam change. Today after a hard throttle pass of slower vehicles, i borrowed a mechanics stethascope and found the rocker in the rear cylinder sounds like it's hitting the rocker box. Would this be an easy fix with shims or just a replacement rocker?
Didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I've heard of rockers contacting the rocker boxes. Fix was to remove material from inside of cover to provide room. Dunno, hope this points you in right direction.
I had heard of that. I'll try some of the old shovelhead shims i have laying around and if that won't do it i guess i'll sit down with a Dremel tool and remove a little bit of the cover. Thanks for help.
Found the "tick" in my motor. Turned out to be the magnets in the rotor came apart and some small pieces were making racket. Having primary rebuilt with new stator, rotor, compensater, and primary chain. Hoping this will quiet it down.
