Ignition switch won't lock

Ignition switch won't lock.....FIXED
I took out my ignition switch to install a spot light switch in the lower inner fairing that holds the switches. All went well until today I traveled about 100 miles away from home and found out when I turn the switch **** to fork lock.....the forks lock but the key no longer will let me turn it to lock.
I must have screwed something up when putting it back together.
Everything else works normal. On, off, ignition on, assy position all work fine.
Just the KEY can not turn to the lock position anymore.
Anyone actually know what I did wrong?

I put my switch back together one time and had the exact same problem. Turned out to be the way I reassembled the switch components. There are 2 pieces that the spring rests on. One screws on to the other(I'm real fuzzy on this). I had one of the nuts upside down. Reassembled correctly and all was OK.

Apparently there are at least two stacked platforms down the ignition shaft and I had turned one of them and misaligned it with the other one. That caused me to get the ignition **** in and everything worked EXCEPT I lost the vertical spring play and ability to actually lock the ignition. After watching the video 4 times I noticed that the guy was always able to drop the shaft in deep ( sounds weird I know) when in the fork lock position. I couldn't do that. I started feeling around in there with my shaft (here we go again) and knew I had to click my inner ignition stuff into a different position to get my key shaft to drop in. It took all of 4 minutes and now my ignition is back to normal. I regained the vertical play and it locks like it should. Thanks jack his and all for the help. Much appreciated.
