Default Baffles removed from Street Glide?

Parts trickling in....

So I got my seat in, LePera Bare Bones, my HD adjustable back rest, and waiting on my pegs. Man, the seat makes SUCH a difference, I actually have to reach for the bars a little and I don't feel cramped at all... Once I get the back rest on and get the highway pegs it's gonna be AWESOME!

One thing I'm wondering though... is if I should remove the baffles. Will a tuner be needed? If I do that I'm leaning towards a V&H tuner. Yes yes, I know, It's not as tunable, but it will work for what I want. I will never be doing any work other than AC, and exhaust, so the tuner will only be needed to adjust for the nominal amount of A/F that is effected by exhaust and AC. Anyone have the baffles removed? It has Rush slip ons... suggestions??

Thanks!

Hey toxic..I have the Rinehart 4" slip ons and I have removed the baffles on mine. But every bike is different. Just my 2 cents.

If you pull those baffles out your performance will suffer. Just buy some bigger baffles. They run much better with some back pressure. How loud do need it! JR

I want it louder for sure, I know it may not sound like my deluxe, but it sounds so weak right now and I'd really want to liven it up a bit.

If you are removing your cat then remove the entire mini baffle from your stock slip ons this will require a 1 1/2 inch hole saw, if your keeping your cat intact just remove the pinched end inside the mini baffle, the sound will be greatly improved! im running cat less with a big air intake and fl veids baffles opened and it runs like a raped ape! no tuner needed. The bike runs way cooler sound is great, pulls real hard, this has made huge difference.

Here is a video of some Rush Slip-ons with the baffles removed and with some Thunder Torque W258's installed. It has more power than when it had any of the different size baffles installed.

It is loud also.

Whatever you do, stay away from the V&H tuner. For just a few more dollars you can get a power commander, which is WAY better.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

My buddy went the V&H route. Then a couple months later bought a PCV because he couldn't get rid of the ping and backfiring, no matter what "code" V&H support gave him.

I had the baffles out of my Bassani pipes for quite a while until I got stuck riding behind a bike without baffles. As soon as I got back home I put the baffles back in. WAY too loud!!!

I cut the baffles out of mine as soon as i put the bike in the garage from the dealer. was pretty easy, sounds a lot better and i'm happy with it (no tuner).

I also removed the cat. just my 2 cents as well. it's not as loud as some may believe but does sound nicer than before. On the other hand, my wife's fatboy has V&H pipes and after removing her baffles and going for a ride with her I WILL NEVER ride on her right, that dam thing will leave you deaf (but she likes it).

Hey DK Custom ... i have the Rush with 2.5 baffles .... so your saying i could remove the baffles and install the W258's ... want a deeper and more aggressive sound .... the W258's are what you recommend????
